Pig ears have high levels of iron, and omega 3. As they are mostly made up of cartilage, and skin, they have high levels of glucosamine, and chondroitin. Because of their texture, they also act as a dental treat to brush away any plaque, or leftover food on your pet’s outer enamel.

As Pig Ears tend to be fattier then the other treats. It is recommended to give your pet one ear, once or twice a week. We also have Pig Ear Slices available for smaller pets, or if you would like to use as a training treat.

*You should always monitor your pet while eating any treats, but be especially mindful with pig ears. Due to their softer nature, they are prone to be swallowed whole.

The Nitty Gritty:

Glucosamine: A natural compound comprised of glucose (sugar), and glutamine (an amino acid). It is the key to healthy bones, and joints. Glucosamine helps lubricate your pet’s joints by stimulating cartilage growth, and thickening synovial fluid, as well as reducing inflammation. It also improves overall joint health by improving mechanical joint mobility while slowing down arthritis-meaning less discomfort, and stiffness.

Chondroitin: It works with Glucosamine to help provide more mobility, and flexibility. It is a cartilage component that encourages water retention, and elasticity in joints. Chondroitin also hinders cartilage destroying enzymes that breaks down cartilage, and joint fluids.

Iron: Essential for maintaining, and supplying oxygen in the circulatory system. Primary roles are oxygen transport around the body, oxygen storage as hemoglobin; but it is also necessary for energy production, and is a cofactor for multiple enzymes in the body.

Omega 3, and 6: The fats found in Omega-3 and 6 are beneficial for brain health, for both developing puppies, and seniors. Its anti-inflammatory properties also help improve overall cardiac health, as well as improving joint health; increasing mobility and reducing pain for those with arthritis, or potentially reducing the severity of future joint issues.
