The Nitty Gritty:

Vitamin A: Well known to be beneficial for skin, and vision health. Also supports cellular differentiation, which is a process that transforms cells into more specialized cells. Vitamin A also boosts the immune system by helping with the creation of the protective mucus that lines the lungs.

Vitamin E: Aids in the production of cell membranes, as well as boosting skin, and vision health, metabolizes fat, and helps other nutrients synthesize in the body, such as Vitamin C. It is also a powerful antioxidant which helps the removal of free radicals, protecting the cells, thus reducing the risk of inflammation, and cancers.

Vitamin C: Helps strengthen your immune system by increasing white blood cell activity to fight foreign bodies, or infection; as well as boosting levels of interferon, which is a natural antibody that helps fight viral infections, and cancerous growth. It is also a powerful antioxidant that will help collect and remove free radicals in your pup’s body that may cause illness, or disease.

Potassium: A primary electrolyte for the body, thus it is crucial for many everyday functions. It works with sodium to maintain homeostasis in the blood, preventing dehydration by moving water in, and out of the cells. Also necessary for voluntary, and involuntary muscle contraction, meaning it helps keep the heart beating in rhythm.

Manganese: A trace mineral that is only needed in small quantities, but helps to stimulate a multitude of enzymatic functions, from the digestion of carbohydrates, and protein, to proper bone, collagen, and cartilage formation. It is also important to formulate antioxidant enzymes that protect against free radicals.

Copper: Aids in the formation of the skeletal system, as well as working to  prevent anemia by helping the body metabolize iron. It also plays a role in the creation of myelin, which is a membrane that protects all the nerves in the body.

Iron: Essential for maintaining, and supplying oxygen in the circulatory system. Primary roles are oxygen transport around the body, oxygen storage as hemoglobin; but it is also necessary for energy production, and is a cofactor for multiple enzymes in the body.

Beta-carotene: Vital to the immune system, for both the first, and second line of the body’s defense. The first line benefits through the production of vitamin A, as the body metabolizes beta-carotene into vitamin A. The second line benefits as it boosts T and B cell functions, which helps the removal of free radicals, and the production of antibodies.
