It works with sodium to maintain homeostasis in the blood, preventing dehydration by moving water in, and out of the cells. Also necessary for voluntary, and involuntary muscle contraction, meaning it helps keep the heart beating in rhythm.

Beta-carotene: Vital to the immune system, for both the first, and second line of the body’s defence. The first line benefits through the production of vitamin A, as the body metabolizes beta-carotene into vitamin A.
